ACH Volume Grew 5% in 2025

Business-to-business and same-day ACH were standout segments of Nacha’s automated clearing house transactions in 2025.

Released Thursday, total volume of 35.2 billion payments in 2025 made with the ACH payment method were up 5% over 2024. Reston, Va.-based Nacha, the ACH rules maker, says these transactions were valued at $93 trillion, up nearly 8% year-over-year. Nacha says this is the 13th consecutive year the annual value has increased by more than $1 trillion.

Some segments were distinguished by their growth. Business-to-business ACH volume of 8.1 billion last year was a 9.9% increase over 7.4 billion in 2024. Peer-to-peer ACH volume of 470 million transactions was up 19.8% from 392 million in 2024.

Same-day ACH, which launched in 2016, had 1.4 billion payments totaling $3.9 trillion, a 16.7% increase in volume and a 21.4% increase in value over 2024. Same-day ACH payment volume first exceeded 1 billion in 2024, the first year the value exceeded $3 trillion. Same-day ACH had an average of 5.6 million payments in 2025, up from 4.94 million daily payments in 2024. Same-day ACH has three processing windows and one for next-day transactions daily.

All other ACH segments grew over 2024. Internet ACH transactions totaled 11.4 billion, a 6.1% year-over-year increase. Direct deposit, at 8.7 billion transactions, was up 1.7%, and health-care ACH transactions were up 7.3% to 548 million.

Nacha says these results indicate the ACH network is continuing to meet the needs of consumers and businesses. The growth in B2B and health-care ACH payments also shows the growing use of ACH payments over checks, Nacha says.
