Just in time for the upcoming holiday shopping season, merchants are ready with new e-commerce checkout options. A hardware cooperative is adding the buy now, pay later option from Affirm for in-store use. Brands Dearfoams and Baggallini now offer Buy with Prime, the Amazon.com Inc. online checkout service.
Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware says Affirm for in-store use will give its customers at more than 5,200 locations more payment flexibility.
To use Affirm in store, a consumer scans a QR code at the checkout and proceeds with a real-time eligibility check on their mobile phones. Affirm says approved customers will have payment options available to them for purchases of $50 or more. Terms are displayed up front.

The relationship between Affirm and Ace Hardware is in-store only. The Ace Hardware online checkout page lists Apple Pay and PayPal, and its Pay Later BNPL options, in addition to credit and debit card acceptance.
In related news, Buy with Prime is a new online checkout option for consumers shopping at Dearfoams, known for its slippers, and Baggallini, which sells travel and lifestyle handbags.
Buy with Prime enables shoppers on these sites to use their Amazon.com Prime membership to track order fulfillment. Consumers may pay for the purchase using available payment options on the brand’s Web site.
Amazon launched Buy with Prime in 2022 with the objective of helping direct-to-consumer merchants acquire new shoppers and improve their conversion rates. Both Dearfoams and Baggallini are owned by RG Barry Brands, a Pickerington, Ohio-based company.
