Early Warning Faces NY Zelle Lawsuit and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/14/25

  • The payments platform Early Warning Services LLC has been sued by the state of New York for allegedly failing to protect Zelle users from what the state charges were “massive amounts of fraud.” Zelle is EWS’s peer-to-peer payments network. EWS officials couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
  • Processor Jack Henry has launched Tap2Local, which it created with digital-payments processor Moov. The technology lets merchants accept credit and debit cards through tap-to-pay on both iOS and Android devices.
  • Some 62% of merchants prefer working with multiple payment processors, up from 50% in 2023, according to “Putting Data Security First in Payment Orchestration,” a paper produced by 451 Research and commissioned by payments provider Bluefin.
  • Business-finance fintech Fundwell announced it has acquired payments platform EveryStreet. Terms were not announced.
  • The cryptocurrency payments network Mesh announced an investment round including nine funding sources, including PayPal Ventures and Coinbase Ventures. The company’s total funding now stands at $130 million. Mesh is the technology behind the Pay with Crypto service from PayPal Holdings Inc.
  • In related news, the blockchain-technology platform Uphold announced an integration with PayPal by which Uphold users in the U.S. can fund their wallets immediately through their PayPal accounts.
  • Xsolla Inc., a payments platform for online games, announced it is working with Adyen NV to launch Xsolla Payment Service Provider, aimed at developers interested in acting as their own merchant of record while relying on Xsolla for technology. The news follows on Xsolla’s announcement early Wednesday of updates including rewards support and a buy button for checkout with Apple Pay.
  • Sycamore, a provider of management software for schools, said it has acquired TuitionEP, a payment processor for tuition. Terms were not announced.
  • China’s Ant Group is working with technology firm RayNeo to develop digital payments capability globally for augmented-reality (AR) glasses. The RayNeo glasses now allow users to make payments through Alipay Tap! merchant terminal in China.
  • Former Green Dot chief executive Dan Henry has been elected chairman of Paysign Inc., a payment processor for medical offices. He replaces Mark Newcomer, who will continue as president and chief executive.
