U.S. House Committee To Hold Faster Payments Hearing and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/30/19

  • The U.S. House of Representatives’ Task Force on Financial Technology will hold a hearing Sept. 26 on “The Future of Real-Time Payments.” The task force was created in May by U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee.
  • Housecall Pro, a software platform for home-service technicians, launched My Money, a set of tools that includes card-acceptance and instant-deposit capability supported by online processor Stripe Inc.
  • MoneyGram International Inc. added HD Bank in Vietnam for its service that delivers money to recipients at their homes in that country.
  • At 4.5 years, the $10 bill has the shortest estimated life span of U.S. paper money, less than a third of the life expectancy of the average $100 bill, which is usable for 15 years, according to a Federal Reserve Bank of Boston report about currency. The average $1 bill lasts 5.8 years.
