PayPal’s iZettle Deal Gets U.K. Approval and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/30/19

  • PayPal Holdings Inc. said the United Kingdom Competition and Markets Authority provisionally cleared PayPal’s $2.2 billion deal to buy iZettle AB, a European point-of-sale services provider. The deal closed in 2018.
  • Processor First Data Corp. said merchant-processing revenues from North American clients rose 5% year-over-year in the first quarter to $1.07 billion.
  • E-commerce processor Shopify Inc. reported first-quarter revenues of $320.5 million, up 50% from a year earlier.
  • Payments provider Nuvei unveiled the Nuvei Innovation Center, a Web-based hub for developers to access Nuvei’s programming and software-development utilities.
  • Verifi Inc. launched its Chargeback Representment Reseller Program that merchants can use to help manage their chargebacks.
  • Travel-technology provider Sabre Corp. said it will use Visa Inc. services to offer clients business-to-business virtual payments.
  • Worldpay Inc. released FraudSight, a service designed to prevent fraud and optimize approval rates across all channels.
  • Factor4 LLC said its gift and loyalty app is available in the PAX Technology Inc. app store for PAX point-of-sale terminals.
  • Nxt-ID Inc. filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for its planned spin-off of its payments, authentication, and credential-management business.
  • Cubic Corp. said it will enable transit cards in Apple Wallet beginning in Chicago later this year. Transit riders will be able to use their digital transit cards to pay fares by tapping their iPhones or Apple Watches against a turnstile reader.
  • North American Bancard Holdings LLC said it will offer Feedzai’s risk-management service to NAB merchants via customized fraud-prevention tools.
