Tidal Commerce To Acquire Merchant Bancard Processing and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 11/5/21

  • Payments company Tidal Commerce said it will acquire Merchant Bancard Processing, a merchant-services company. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Gift card and loyalty provider Factor4 LLC announced an integration with Valor Paytech, a gateway and point-of-sale terminal provider.
  • BNPL provider Zip Co. Ltd. found in its “Holidays Unzipped: 20201 Holiday Spending Report” that nearly 51% of U.S. consumers intend to finish their Christmas shopping by the end of November and more than half of BNPL users plan to wrap up their shopping by Thanksgiving.
  • Buy now, pay later provider Klarna AB expanded its partnership with mobile commerce platform provider ContextLogic Inc., which operates under the Wish brand. Consumers using Wish will be able to split the cost of their purchase over four interest-free payments through Klarna’s Pay in 4 solution.
  • Card manufacturer CPI Card Group Inc. reported $99.6 million in revenue for the third quarter, up 20.4% from the 2020 third quarter. Of that, $76.1 million was from the debit and credit segment and $23.5 million from prepaid sales. CPI posted a net income of $6.6 million, up 13.8% from $5.8 million a year ago.
  • Unattended payments provider Cantaloupe Inc. reported revenues of $45.8 million for the first quarter of fiscal year 2022 which ended Sept. 30. Revenues for the quarter increased 24% over the same period a year earlier. For the quarter, Cantaloupe recorded $40.6 million in subscription and transaction fees, up 22.7% from $33.1 million in the year-ago quarter.
  • Green Dot Corp. reported $339.5 million in third quarter revenue, up 16.6% from $291.1 million in the 2020 third quarter. The prepaid card and banking services provider had a profit of $7.3 million, a reversal of a $3 million loss in the same quarter a year ago.
