- The international money-transfer system Swift said it plans to add what it calls a “blockchain-based shared ledger” to its technology stack in an effort to process instant cross-border transactions. Some 34 financial institutions from 16 countries are advising Swift on the project.
- The payments platform Lightspeed Commerce introduced Showroom, a service that provides merchants an AI-supported online presence to display products and services but without e-commerce capability.
- Citicorp said it plans to integrate its Citi Token Services, which uses blockchain technology, with its USD Clearing technology to set up a cross-border payments service for the bank’s institutional clients in the United States and United Kingdom.
- China-based POS technology provider Shiji, a specialist in the hospitality industry, said American Liberty Hospitality has extended its use of Shiji POS technology to seven of its properties, including the Hilton Houston Westchase, recently acquired by ALH.
- Curve Dental, a software provider to dental practices, has launched Curve Pay, which the company says combines clinical, operational, and financial workflows in one system.
- The “Enterprise Payments Playbook,” released Monday, indicates 74% of business executives say consumers expect faster and frictionless transactions, with 58% of merchants blaming lost sales and higher rates of cart abandonment on their existing technology. The Playbook, sponsored by FreedomPay and Stripe, is based on surveys by Forbes Insights of 250 financial-services executives.
- Commerce-technology developer MTech Mobility said it has invested in payments-technology provider Check Please and has merged Check Please’s tech with its own POS platform. Details about the investment were not disclosed.
- Visa Inc. announced general availability for its Visa Commercial Solutions (VCS) Hub, technology aimed at supporting commercial payments for issuers around the world.
- Global Payments Inc. appointed Patricia Watson and Archana Deskus to its board as independent directors, effective immediately. Watson most recently was chief information and technology officer at NCR Atleos. Deskus most recently was chief technology officer at PayPal Holdings Inc.
- Early Warning Services said its Paze online checkout service will be the official jersey patch partner of the Atlanta Hawks, a National Basketball Association team.
