SignaPay Announces New Products and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/1/18

  • Point-of-sale equipment maker Ingenico Group announced a PIN-on-glass product suite that includes a secure card reader and a back-end verification service.
  • Payments provider SignaPay Ltd. announced two new products, the PayHub Plus Payment Gateway and the PayLo Mynt POS System, which offers a variety of customized point-of-sale software packages.
  • In its newly filed 2017 annual report to the Securities and Exchange Commission, JPMorgan Chase & Co. said its Merchant Services unit incurred $28 million in chargeback losses last year on $1.19 trillion in merchant volume, down 67% from $85 million in 2016. JPMorgan also said in its annual report that “both financial institutions and their non-banking competitors face the risk that payment processing and other services could be disrupted by technologies, such as cryptocurrencies, that require no intermediation.”
  • Personal data, some of which included bank and payment card account numbers, on more than 21,000 U.S. Marines, sailors, and civilians was exposed when an unencrypted e-mail with an attachment containing the data was sent to the wrong distribution list on Monday,Marine Corps Times reported. The email reportedly originated at the Marine Corps Forces Reserve.
  • The U.S. Payments Forum issued updated guidance for EMV contact and contactless card acceptance testing and certification processes.
  • Payments provider Paysafe named Gretchen Bender senior vice president of sales, ISO agents and direct sales. Paysafe also named Bill Ranta as vice president of sales, card not present.
  • The ATM Industry Association published a white paper about how deployers can defend against jackpotting, in which attackers cause an ATM to dispense large amounts of cash.
  • Business-to-business payments network Finexio hired Cynthia “Cindy” Smith, a veteran of Meta Financial Group, Zion’s Bancorporation, U.S. Bank, and Paymentech, as chief operating officer.
  • Electronic bill-payments provider BillGo Inc. named Mike Pinto as chief operating officer. Pinto previously worked at payments processor Noventis.
  • Merchant-funded rewards program developer Cardlytics named Randall Beard as group president for advertisers and Shannon Johnson as group president for financial institutions. Cardlytics began trading in February following its initial public offering.
