RevSpring Acquires TrustCommerce to Beef up Patient Payments

RevSpring Inc., a provider of payment and data technology to health-care organizations, has acquired TrustCommerce, an integrated payment platform provider for the same industry. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The parties say the acquisition will bolster RevSpring’s PersonaPay patient-payment platform by accelerating innovation in financial engagement and integrated payments and helping provider and payer organizations simplify payment complexity. Health-care organizations using PersonaPay have increased online payments by anywhere from 15% to 50%, the company says. PersonaPay enables patients to choose a payment option that fits their budget, whether by paying in full or enrolling in a payment plan or executing a financial-assistance application.

Leveraging TrustCommerce’s technology will enable RevSpring to create a more unified payments experience by simplifying payment complexity and providing end-to-end visibility for transactions, RevSpring says. The deal will also improve operational control from the transaction through the reconciliation process, as well as provide a more consistent patient-payment experience across pre-service, point-of-service, post-service, and back-office functions, the company says.

“Health care can be a difficult experience just due to the nature of what’s at stake, so ensuring that payments are not viewed as a negative part of the health-care journey is a win for RevSpring,” says Sam Wares, director of client success at the payments research firm TSG, in an email message.

In addition, TrustCommerce expands RevSpring’s gateway integrations to major payment processors and additional devices, which RevSpring says will give it more routing flexibility, simplify merchant onboarding, and provide greater control over product enhancements. Founded in 1981, RevSpring is based in Nashville, Tenn.
