PayPal Makes Greater Use of Google Cloud and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/14/21

  • With its active user count having jumped 24% to 392 million during the pandemic, PayPal Holdings Inc. said it is moving more of its infrastructure and workloads to Google Cloud.
  • CareTime, a software platform for home caregivers, introduced a capability to accept credit cards and e-checks within the platform.
  • Wirex Ltd., whose platform allows consumers to exchange cryptocurrency, appointed Jenny Kong global head of marketing. The company also issues a multicurrency payment card branded by Mastercard.
  • Cryptocurrency exchange CoinZoom said it joined Visa Inc.’s Fintech Fast Track program, which provides access to Visa’s partner network and other resources.
  • Payments-industry veteran Joe Proto has joined the board of directors of Finexio, a payables-automation company. Most recently, Proto ran bill-payment firm Transactis, acquired by Mastercard Inc. in 2019.
  • TD Bank named Alissa Van Volkom head of U.S. consumer deposits, products, and payments. She joined the bank in 2018 as senior vice president, head of customer, product, and digital marketing. TD Bank is a subsidiary of Toronto-Dominion Bank.
