Paya Partners With 1Retail to Bring Integrated Payments to Small Businesses

Payments provider Paya Inc. has agreed to supply point-of-sale systems supplier 1Retail with technology that enables EMV contactless and stored payments in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software from Acumatica Cloud.

The deal provides Paya’s and 1Retail’s mutual customers running the Acumatica ERP platform with a POS system that works in concert with Paya’s Click2Pay accounts receivable automation platform. Through the integration, small businesses can offer an EMV or contactless checkout experience, as well as allow returning customers to make purchases from payment information stored in the Acumatica platform without a physical card present.

Acumatica provides a cloud- and browser-based ERP platform for small and medium-sized businesses.

Weiner: “It’s a quick sale, sign and go terms account experience without the collections headache.”

The integration is expected to improve the point-of-sale experience for business-to-business retailers such as plumbing, electrical, or industrial suppliers that often sell to contractors or field employees picking up goods on behalf of the business, according to Ben Weiner, executive vice president and head of B2B and government for Paya. Even though a purchase can be made without a physical card present at the time of the transaction, merchants will receive funds in real time.

“With the Paya 1Retail integration, the small business can provide the convenience of terms with a card on file while their customers will not need to provide a card for every employee in the field,” Weiner tells Digital Transactions News by email. “It’s a quick sale, sign and go terms account experience without the collections headache. Not all business owners want to increase their terms accounts due to carrying costs and collections problems.”

All card information is tokenized and stored in the Paya vault and is visible anywhere in the Acumatica ecosystem. That includes cards run through a gateway-powered terminal used by 1Retail or transactions stored within Paya’s proprietary Click2Pay billing software, Paya says. All card and automated clearing house data is stored with the same process throughout the network. In this way, the solution is suitable for any Acumatica ERP merchant participating in electronic commerce that is looking to add a retail experience, says Jeremy Burt, head of ERP business development for Paya.

“The 1Retail integration with Paya will work well with any merchant that wants full retail POS and is connecting to Acumatica for core financials,” Burt says by email. “Paya also supports counter-sale clients that want to use an integrated credit card terminal for sales directly out of the ERP without cash-drawer management or barcode scanning.”

The Paya and 1Retail integration is also expected to improve the reconciliation process and reporting capabilities for merchants by enabling them to match transactions with the clearing accounts for faster bank deposits.

“Paya has tied all credit card and ACH processing into the bank deposit feature for Acumatica,” says Weiner. “This enables all Paya transactions to seamlessly reconcile each day with a click of a button.”

In addition, transactions made in Acumatica, Paya Click2Pay, and 1Retail are also visible within Paya’s gateway along with all customer profiles and previous transactions visible across the Paya billing platform. “We have tied together the ERP and the gateway with a documentID and payment indicator that provides a visual connector for the accounts receivable clerk of how or where the transaction was processed regardless of if you are in the gateway or ERP,” Burt says.
