PAX Debuts Elys Workstation and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/12/23

  • Point-of-sale terminal maker PAX Technology Inc. released its Elys Workstation, a configurable POS device. It features a 14-inch screen, front-facing camera, and operates on the Android system. It can be paired with multiple PAX payment acceptance terminals.
  • PayPal Holdings Inc.’s stock has traded in the mid-$60s range for days following a plunge early in the week from the mid-$70s. Analysts expressed disappointment after the company said in an earnings call that it plans to lay stress on its unbranded checkout service, which is said to garner lower margins than its traditional branded checkout.
  • Payments provider AvidXchange, along with CINC Systems, said to be the biggest cloud-based software vendor for homeowners’ associations, launched an accounts-payable utility called VendorPay.
  • PayRetailers, a payments provider specializing in the Latin American market, appointed Jonathan Wilson chief risk officer. Formerly, Wilson was head of risk for digital wallets at Paysafe Ltd. and before joining PayRetailers was chief risk and compliance officer at AU10TIX, a provider of fraud-detection services.
