P20 Group Seeks Worldwide Payments Sway and other Digital Transactions News briefs

  • A global payments initiative called P20 will convene its first meeting Oct. 10 in London. Government officials and regulators from the United Kingdom and the United States are expected to attend, along with 20 payments-industry leaders. The conference is intended to promote the importance of payments and financial technology to the world economy as well as the global significance of London and Atlanta to the payments industry, according to the organizers.
  • Ondot Systems, a provider of mobile-based payment card services, announced a new platform that includes interface options for banks, the ability to work within a bank’s mobile-banking app, and an HTML5 framework that enables banks to roll out card-control applications quickly.
  • Duke Energy Kentucky said it will launch a program later this month involving so-called smart meters that will read energy usage automatically for billing purposes.
  • Computer Services Inc., a core and payments processor for financial institutions, announced its president, R. Stanley Eckenberg, will retire next June. Eckenberg has been with the company since 1992.
