More Back-and-Forth on Epic/Apple Lawsuit and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/12/25

  • The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals required that certain elements of an order that held Apple Inc. in contempt must be modified, but upheld most of the findings as well as an earlier injunction against Apple. The case stemmed from a 2020 lawsuit filed by Epic Games against Apple to challenge Apple’s control over transactions within apps that rely on the tech giant’s operating system.
  • Technology developer Tools for Humanity launched an updated World App that now includes World Chat, a messaging app that among other features enables global payments within chats without in-app fees; U.S. dollar virtual accounts; and support for a range of stablecoins. A World Card feature is set to launch early next year to support Apple Pay and tap-to-pay capability in the U.S. market. The original World App launched in May 2023. OpenAI cofounder Sam Altman is a cofounder of the venture.
  • Digital-banking platform Bluevine Inc. launched tap-to-pay capability for its merchant clients on processing services offered by Stripe Inc.
  • Nacha, the regulatory body for the automated clearing house network, named risk-decisioning platform Oscilar Inc. a Nacha Preferred Partner for Account Validation, Fraud Monitoring, and Risk and Fraud Prevention.
  • Oscilar said it will work with Payoneer Global Inc. to help modernize the latter company’s fraud and risk intelligence capabilities in its core payment platforms.
  • Digital commerce platform commercetools said it will support Stripe Inc.’s Agentic Commerce Suite for client businesses.
  • Visa Inc. said Najada Kimbuli has been appointed president of the Visa Foundation and head of global philanthropy. She comes to the card network from Calvert Impact Capital, where she served as investment director.
