MoonPay Launches MoonPay Commerce; Ripple Pays $1 Billion for GTreasury

MoonPay USA LLC has launched MoonPay Commerce, a platform that enables merchants to accept cryptocurrency for products, services, and subscriptions. MoonPay built the platform using technology from its acquisition of Helio earlier this year.

Developers and merchants can integrate MoonPay Commerce, which is already being used by 6,000 merchants, using widgets or plug-ins. Developers can also integrate MoonPay Commerce using application programming interfaces, software development kits, and webhooks. Webhooks send a message from one application to another when a specific event occurs, allowing them to communicate in real time.

Developers can use the integration paths to MoonPay Commerce to build bespoke on-chain checkout flows for marketplaces, apps, trading terminals, and decentralized exchanges. Bespoke on-chain checkout flows for marketplaces are customized, blockchain-based processes for handling transactions and payments.

In addition, users can move supported tokens into their app, create a shareable Pay Link to sell subscriptions, products, content, and enable e-commerce. The platform also supports card payments. Merchants paid by card are paid in cryptocurrency, according to MoonPay.

MoonPay Commerce supports multiple cryptocurrencies, including USDC, USDT (Tether), Ether, SOL, the cryptocurrency for the Solana blockchain, and Bitcoin. The platform also integrates with leading crypto wallets and exchanges. Merchants can choose to settle directly in crypto or auto-convert into fiat currencies such as the U.S. dollar and the Euro to enable cross-border payments.

In related crypto news, Ripple labs Inc. has acquired treasury management systems provider GTreasury for $1 billion. The acquisition will provide Ripple with access to the multi-trillion dollar corporate-treasury market, the company says. The acquisition will also enable 24/7/365 cross-border payments for Ripple users.

“The combination of our cash forecasting, risk management, and compliance foundation with Ripple’s speed, global network, and digital asset solutions creates an opportunity for treasurers to manage liquidity, payments, and risk in the new digital economy,” GTreasury chief executive Renaat Ver Eecke says in a statement.
