Mastercard Completes Transfast Deal and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 7/9/19

  • Mastercard Inc. completed its acquisition of Transfast, a cross-border payments specialist. Terms were not disclosed. Transfast provides B2B and person-to-person payment services through a network it says covers more than 125 countries and includes direct integrations with more than 300 banks and other financial institutions. The company also supports Mastercard Send, Mastercard’s near real-time payment service.
  • SpotOn Transact LLC said it expanded a partnership with Total System Services Inc. (TSYS) that will enable SpotOn to widen its payment capabilities to merchants and reach more small and mid-size merchants.
  • Mobile-payment and rewards-technology provider ZipLine Inc. announced the acquisition of gift-card platform SmartClixx. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Artificial-intelligence and machine-learning services provider Brighterion Inc. said processor Elavon Inc. will integrate its AI platform into Elavon’s network. Brighterion is owned by Mastercard Inc. Elavon is a unit of U.S. Bancorp.
  • Groupon Inc. announced a deal with Prodege LLC, a rewards provider, that will see Groupon provide Prodege with local merchants’ card-linked offer content. Prodege users will be able to load these offers onto a payment card and receive either cash back or points to redeem for gift cards.
  • Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (FIS) said Sun East Federal Credit Union will use FIS’s payment processing services that include debit, credit, and ATM transactions. Sun East, with more than 50,000 members, is a new FIS client.
  • Worldpay Inc. said it will partner with the University of Cincinnati by participating in the school’s 1819 Innovation Hub. Each semester Worldpay will employ students to work on fintech applications and other projects.
  • GoCardless Ltd., a recurring payments provider, said DocuSign will use its services for DocuSign’s European clients.
