Grocer Picks Blackhawk for Gift Card Program and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/18/20

  • WinCo Foods, a grocery chain with 129 stores in the Western United States, has launched a gift card program from Blackhawk Network.
  • Buy now, pay later service Zip announced an offer of 3% cash back on purchases on its service during the Christmas season through Jan. 8. Zip recently launched Tap & Zip, which allows users to add a digital Zip card to their Apple Pay or Google Pay wallet for contactless transactions.
  • Some 79% of consumers will do their Christmas shopping in the two weeks leading up to Dec. 25, according to a survey by payments provider Klarna AB of 40,000 Klarna users.
  • Payments provider Repay Holdings Corp. announced an integration with contact-center platform LiveVox to enable digital payments during self-service or agent-assisted transactions.
  • A startup called Payments.io, whose technology enables the digital transfer of funds from home buyers to title companies in real-estate transactions, has added the ability for title companies or real-estate brokerages to send proceeds of cash-out refinances or refunds of earnest money from an escrow account to a client’s checking account.
  • E-commerce services provider Ecwid Inc., based in San Diego, announced new partnerships with European payment providers Giropay, Sofort, iDeal, SEPA, Klarna, and PayPal Plus.
  • Veteran payments executive Steve Eazell is the vice president of sales at Advanced Mobile Payments Inc., the company announced. Prior to this position, Eazell had been vice president of acquiring at fintech ES Solo. He also is a founder and former president of the Western States Acquiring Association.
  • Point-of-sale payments technology provider Epos Now appointed former Verifone Inc. executive Nathan Gill chief product officer.
