FIS Smart Basket Coming and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/16/25

  • Processor FIS Inc. said it will soon release Smart Basket, technology designed to automatically optimize rewards and payment methods at checkout.
  • Mastercard Inc. and Visa Inc. reached a proposed settlement of $199.5 million in a class action lawsuit a group of merchants filed almost 10 years ago, Reuters reported. The settlement still requires court approval.
  • Galileo Financial Technologies said it joined the Amazon Web Services Partner Network in an effort to expand the reach of its payment-processing technology. The move allows businesses to access Galileo’s platform on AWS.
  • Layne’s Chicken Fingers, a restaurant chain with nearly 50 locations, has contracted with PAR Technology Corp. for digital ordering and loyalty technology as the chain plans to add more than 300 restaurants.
  • Payments technology provider ACI Worldwide Inc. announced it will integrate BitPay, a cryptocurrency platform, into its payments-orchestration service.
  • U.S. Bank announced it has started a Digital Assets and Money Movement department to spur revenue from products and services such as stablecoins, cryptocurrency custody, and digital-money movement. U.S. Bank veteran Jamie Walker has been appointed head of the department.
  • Subscription management platform Recurly Inc. issued its fall release that now incorporates its Recurly Compass Assistant, an artificial intelligence decision engine, and new ways to win and retain subscribers.
  • Buy now, pay later specialist Affirm Holdings Inc. said eligible shoppers at Fanatics, a digital sports platform, can now use Affirm as a payment option.
  • Klarna AB announced it has begun rolling out its Klarna Balance and Klarna Card services in the U.K. market. Klarna Balance is a digital wallet. Klarna Card relies on Visa Inc.’s flexible credential service and can be used as either a credit card or debit card.
  • PayPal Holdings Inc. released a set of tips for consumers to help increase their awareness of scams and phishing attempts.
