First Data Completes BluePay Acquisition and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/1/17

  • Processor First Data Corp. completed its previously announced, $760 million acquisition of independent sales organization BluePay Holdings Inc. 
  • Payment-services provider Shift4 Corp. announced its EMV-certified services are now available to users of Posera Ltd.’s Maitre’D point-of-sale hospitality software.
  • Infinite Peripherals launched the InfineaRetail Airline Edition point-of-sale suite of products.
  • Mastercard Inc. will add 473 jobs to its Manhattan technology center by 2024, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced. Mastercard already employs 250 people at its existing tech hub, but plans to move it to a new, 212,000-square-foot facility. The state is providing up to $13.3 million in performance-based tax credits for the expansion.
  • Online fundraising platform GoFundMe has dropped its 5% fee on U.S. personal crowdfunding donations, Bloomberg reported. GoFundMe’s 2.9% payment-processing fee and per-donation fee of 30 cents remain. The company said it will accept tips from donors to cover its costs.
  • In related news, Facebook Inc. is dropping its 5% fee on donations, according to TechCrunch.
