Regions Bank, with 1,250 branches, will use payment processing services from Worldpay, a unit of Global Payments Inc., for its Regions Merchant Services business. Meanwhile, credit union service organization Velera says Financial Center First Credit Union chose it for credit and debit card processing services.
Birmingham, Ala.-based Regions Bank, part of Regional Financial Corp., says Worldpay will supply businesses using Regions Merchant Services with multiple payment options for in-store and online commerce.
This includes use of mobile contactless payment acceptance, point-of-sale terminals, loyalty and rewards programs that merchants can brand, and online gift cards. Regions Bank also calls out restaurant, retail, health care, professional services and trades, and hospitality as sought-after segments.

The deal includes payments-fraud protection and access to value-added services. Regions also says participating merchants will have access to in-branch support services. Its branches are in the Southeast, Midwest, and Texas.
Regions Bank business clients using the Worldpay service also have access to real-time payment acceptance and deposit reporting via a Web portal.

In related news, St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Velera says Financial Center, which has more than 60,000 members and $940 million in assets, will begin using its debit and ATM processing services in July with credit card transactions coming online in August.
Indianapolis-based Financial Center issues a combined 50,000 credit and debit cards, a spokesperson says. It lists nine branch locations and other ATM or drive-up-only locations.
