Embedded Payments Platform PayIt Aims at Hunters and Anglers Looking to Buy State Licenses

PayIt, a government-services platform and embedded-payments provider, has expanded its relationship with the Ohio Division of Wildlife to provide a digital-licensing system for hunters and fishermen.

The deal is expected to offer a better process for online purchases and provide the agency’s staff with insights and tools to improve user retention.

PayIt is not new to state agencies. It has provided its customer relationship management platform to the Ohio Division of Wildlife since 2020, in addition to a business-management solution for two shooting ranges managed by the agency. Across this four-year relationship, the company has processed 5.7 million payments for such products as hunting and fishing licenses and training courses. During that time, the agency’s online sales volume has increased 68%, PayIt says.

“Our partnership with PayIt has enabled us to provide a convenient, engaging way for our customers to purchase licenses, report harvests, access educational resources, and support our agency’s conservation efforts,” Kendra Wecker, chief of the Ohio Division of Wildlife, says in a statement. “We’re happy to continue building on this strong foundation… brought together by a shared commitment to the conservation of Ohio’s wildlife.”

PayIt’s expanded relationship with the Ohio Division of Wildlife comes on the heels of recent contracts with the states of Minnesota, Mississippi, and Missouri, along with system upgrades for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

“We are very excited to continue working with the Ohio team to help them engage their customers,” Chris Willard, general manager for outdoors at PayIt, says in a statement. “The continued investment in our conservation platform directly impacts the outcomes we can drive for our agency partners and the outdoors enthusiasts they serve — and ultimately, supports conservation in Ohio and beyond.”
