Early Warning Lawsuit Dismissal Denied other Digital Transactions News briefs from 7/23/26

  • A New York state lawsuit filed against Early Warning Services LLC and its Zelle peer-to-peer platform can continue, a judge ruled this week. Filed in August, the suit alleged Zelle failed to protect users from fraud. Zelle intends to appeal, Reuters reported.
  • Forty-five percent of U.S. households expect to use a buy now, pay later service to fund their back-to-school purchases, found a survey of 1,075 consumers from Omnisend, an email and text messaging marketing platform.
  • Manifest Financial, an embedded-banking platform, has launched its Manifest Business Debit Mastercard, issued by MVB Bank Inc. The card is aimed at entrepreneurs.
  • The Nebraska Bankers Association has officially endorsed Stablecore, a company that aids banks in supporting stablecoin accounts, payments, and acceptance, as well as tokenized deposits. The NBA has more than 150 member banks.
  • A group of nine founding members has formed the Bitcoin Security Consortium, whose purpose is to support “the long-term security and resilience of the Bitcoin network,” the group says. The initiative is supported by a total of $15 million in member pledges expected over the next three years.
  • BlueSnap announced that the checkout-as-a-service platform Simpler is now getting half of its revenue from payments following its adoption of BlueSnap’s embedded-payments technology, BlueSnap said. BlueSnap was acquired by Payroc in October.
  • The U.S. Faster Payments Council released its “Stablecoins as a Cross-Border Payment Method” report.
  • Fintech i2c Inc. named Joseph Schmidt chief financial officer and Jason Goldberg chief client officer. Schmidt most recently was an executive at American Banknote Corp. and Goldberg comes to i2c from Zelle.
  • IDnow, a developer of digital-identity and fraud-prevention technology, has appointed Philippe Morel chief executive, replacing Andreas Bodczek, who has stepped down. Morel formerly was CEO of the payments company Railsr.
