- Chase, a unit of JPMorgan Chase & Co., enabled cardless ATM access at nearly all of its 16,000 ATMs nationwide when consumers use Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay loaded with a Chase debit or Liquid card.
- In related news, Chase said Los Angeles-area consumers can use Chase Pay to pay at the pump at 76-branded gas stations.
- The Western Union Co. reported revenue of $1.41 billion in the second quarter, a 2% increase from $1.38 billion in the same period a year ago. Its net income of $217.6 million was a 31% increase from $166.5 million. Western Union said consumer-to-consumer revenue, representing 80% of total company revenue in the quarter, grew 4% while transactions increased 5%.
- MoneyGram International Inc. reported total revenue of $374.6 million for the second quarter, down 9% on a reported basis year-over-year. Net income, which includes $5.5 million of restructuring costs, came to $2.3 million, down from $6.2 million in the year-ago quarter. The company also announced MoneyGram online is now available in 11 countries.
- Electronic-benefits payment platform CoinFlip Solutions Inc. said it now enables health plans to provide benefits to members that can be used as payment media at grocery and non-grocery retail locations.
- Coffee giant Starbucks Corp. is working with Microsoft Corp. and Fortune 500 financial marketplace Intercontinental Exchange Inc. on a venture called Bakkt that is intended to ease the buying, selling, and spending of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

- Sphere Payments LLC named Anthony Lucatuorto chief sales officer supporting small and mid-size businesses. A former TransFirst Holdings Inc. and First Data Corp. executive, Lucatuorto will oversee Sphere’s SMB sales operations in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
