BluePay Acquisition Bolsters Integrated POS Efforts As New Exec Takes Over

Merchant-services company BluePay Processing Inc. has bought CDI Technology Corp., which provides e-commerce software and payment services for companies that use business-management software such as Oracle JD Edwards and SAP.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Lombard, Ill.-based CDI integrates e-commerce and payments into business-management software, often called ERP software for enterprise resource planning. Among CDI’s products are SnapPay, which enables payments for sales orders, accounts receivable and accounts payable, and the ability to create Web stores using the ERP database.

SnapPay, according to CDI’s Web site, supports BluePay, Cybersource/Authorize.net, Moneris, and PayPal Payflow Pro payment gateways.

Naperville, Ill.-based BluePay says the acquisition will get the independent sales organization access to large merchants that already use business-management software. BluePay says the deal also will also further the company’s ambition to increase the share of e-commerce merchants it serves.

The deal comes at a time when many processors and independent sales organizations are looking to beef up capabilities in so-called integrated software, partnering with or outright acquiring independent software vendors to gain access to merchants that use business-management systems. The value of such integrations came into sharp relief last year with the $1.65 billion acquisition of integrated-payments specialist Mercury Payment Systems LLC by processor Vantiv Inc.

In other news, BluePay this week promoted Bala Janakiraman from chief product officer to president and chief operating officer. Janakiraman, who joined BluePay in May 2014, will oversee sales, technology, and operations.
