Avalon Solutions Debuts Its myOmny Mobile POS App With a Reseller Program

Sales agents at independent sales organizations and software vendors have a new mobile point-of-sale service to sell merchants. MyOmny, which is available for smart phones and tablets using iOS and Android operating systems, has launched.

Developed by Dallas-based Avalon Solutions Group, myOmny is an app that merchants download to their mobile devices and set up themselves, David Sanders, Avalon chief executive, tells Digital Transactions News. The software is EMV- and PCI-compliant, and offers transaction encryption. Support for near-field communication (NFC) transactions and Windows 10 mobile devices is coming, he says. Merchants supply their own hardware.

MyOmny was developed to give small and mid-size businesses the type of POS support and transaction reporting that larger companies typically have enjoyed, Sander says. “All of the big guys have this technology and typically small and mid-size businesses don’t have that. We’re tying to simplify that as much as we can.”

For example, myOmny includes two-way integration into a merchant’s QuickBooks account, enabling both services to share business details, he says. Merchants can view daily, weekly, and monthly reports on their smart phones.

Monthly pricing will be about $50. Resellers will get a buy rate substantially less than that, Sander says. Marketing efforts include exhibiting at regional acquiring shows and digital messaging, he says.

MyOmny offers its own processing and gateway services, but merchants do not have to switch their processing agreements to use the service.

Mobile POS services like myOmny are forecast to grow to 17.4 million installations by 2019, says 451 Research in a 2015 report. That would be a 155.9% increase from 6.8 million installations as of mid-2015.
