Payroc Acquires Worldnet and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/22/22

  • Payroc World Access LLC announced the acquisition of Worldnet, a payment gateway designed for independent software developers. Terms were not disclosed.
  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the New York Attorney General have sued MoneyGram International Inc., alleging the remittance company “failed to deliver funds promptly to recipients abroad.” MoneyGram responded by calling the claims baseless and that it was disappointed in the lawsuit. “The Company is fully prepared to vigorously defend itself and expose the meritless nature of the lawsuit in court,” MoneyGram said in a statement.
  • Pete’s of Erie Inc., with 50 convenience stores in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, will install the Passport Express Lane self-checkout technology from Gilbarco Veeder-Root in all of its locations. The system allows customers to pump gas, scan purchases, and order food in a single transaction.
  • U.S.-based payments provider Gr4vy announced links to international payments platforms Boku and Ebanx to allow merchants to access payments from consumers in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
  • Stripe Inc. is initiating cryptocurrency for payouts, relying on the USDC coin from Circle Internet Financial.
