PayPal To Acquire Cymbio and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/22/26

  • PayPal Holdings Inc. has agreed to acquire Cymbio Ltd., a payments-orchestration platform, with a closing expected in the first half of the year. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Lightspeed Commerce Inc. announced Lightspeed AI along with a number of other new services. The AI service is aimed at aiding merchants in decision making and operational efficiency.
  • The U.S. Payments Forum announced the officers for its 23-member 2026 Steering Committee. Keri Crane of Jack Henry & Associates Inc. will serve as chairman.
  • Pay-by-bank platform AeroPay said it has opened an expanded headquarters facility in Chicago.
  • Cryptocurrency platform Alchemy Pay has been granted U.S. money-transmitter licenses in Kansas, West Virginia, South Dakota, and Nebraska, bringing its total of state licenses to 14.
  • Payoneer India, a unit of the New York City-based payments platform Payoneer Global Inc., has been granted in-principle authorization by the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a cross-border payment aggregator.
  • Mews B.V., a startup whose technology specializes in reservations and payments for hotels, raised $300 million in a Series D funding round led by EQT Growth. The round values the company at $2.5 billion. The company processed $19.7 billion in payments last year on 42.3 million checked-in reservations.
  • Looking to process video game payments, Bitcoin-based payments startup ZBD raised $40 million in a Series C round led by Blockstream Capital.
  • Business-to-business payments provider Credit Key announced it has closed on a $90-millon growth-capital investment from Barings.
