Evertec Completes EFT Group Acquisition and other Digital Transactions News briefs

  • Puerto Rico-based payment processor Evertec Inc. completed its $38.5 million acquisition of Chile-based EFT Group S.A., which uses the PayGroup brand. PayGroup provides payment processing and software services to financial institutions throughout Latin America.
  • Alipay, a mobile wallet used primarily in China and abroad by Chinese travelers, said Chinese food supplier Han Feng Inc., which serves more than 14,000 merchants in 22 states, will enable Han Feng merchants to accept Alipay starting in New York and North Carolina.
  • Multi-currency processor Planet Payment Inc. and payment technology provider ACI Worldwide Inc. jointly announced that they are offering merchants Chinese payment network UnionPay’s SecurePlus service; the two companies’ offering will enable users to accept UnionPay credit and debit cards without a re-direct to the UnionPay hosted payment page, thereby reducing the likelihood of transaction declines.
  • CM, a mobile-service provider based in the Netherlands, has acquired Docdata Payments from its U.S.-based parent, Ingram Micro. Docdata Payments processes chiefly for clients in Europe. Terms were not announced.
  • Some 30% of email users open phishing emails, and more than 12% of users click on their attachments, according to findings from the 2016 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report quoted by the PCI Security Standards Council.
