Avidia Bank Among Same-Day ACH Pioneers and other Digital Transactions News briefs

Avidia Bank announced it is offering same-day ACH payments using technology supplied by linked2pay, a payments-technology company.

Fuel-pump manufacturer and convenience-store technology provider Gilbarco Veeder-Root said Colbea Inc., which does business as Seasons Corner Market, is installing Gilbarco’s Passport Point of Sale system to handle EMV chip card payments inside stores and its FlexPay IV payment terminals for fuel pumps, which also will include media capabilities. Gilbarco developed the FlexPay IV systems with payment-terminal maker VeriFone Systems Inc.

Laptop maker Lenovo, chipmaker Intel, PayPal Holdings Inc., and Synaptics, a provider of fingerprint-authentication solutions, announced a collaboration that will allow consumers to access online services like PayPal with a fingerprint scan rather than a password. Authentication relies on standards developed by the Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance.

Remote deposit capture technology provider Cachet Financial Solutions Inc. said it will deploy its Select Mobile Deposit service with Varo Money Inc., a mobile-only banking startup that plans to begin a beta launch later this year.

IBM Corp. and China UnionPay E-payment Research Institute demonstrated a method by which consumers could exchange card bonus points among multiple banks using blockchain technology .

Digital-currency provider Ripple said several banks joined the Global Payments Steering Group, an association that will oversee the creation and maintenance of Ripple transaction rules and formalize standards for using Ripple.

Payments provider Clearent LLC named Dana Odom as vice president and integrated software vendors channel manager. Odom worked at TSYS Merchant Solutions and PayPros.
