ACH Q1 Volume at 6 Billion and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/7/19

  • NACHA said automated clearing house volume in the first quarter totaled 6 billion payments that included 3.5 billion debit transactions and 2.5 billion credit transactions. Internet-initiated payments increased 10.3% to 1.6 billion. Same-day ACH transactions totaled 52.7 million, up 24% from a year prior. NACHA also launched the NACHA Corporate Experience and accompanying Web site to demonstrate the utility of ACH payments for businesses.
  • Forty-five percent of consumers between 18 and 29 years old said small businesses should adopt a cashier-less model akin to Amazon Go stores, found the 2019 Cox Business Consumer Pulse on Small Business survey. Yet, overall, 77% prefer to interact with individuals at the checkout.
  • Payment Data Systems Inc. said its payments services will be integrated into electronic health-records software developed by Sigmund Software.
  • Payments-technology provider InComm said its MyVanilla reloadable prepaid Mastercard product is compatible with the Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay mobile wallets. InComm also announced it is equipping retailers in its payments network with near-field communication (NFC) capability for contactless transactions.
  • ADP Research Institute found that 79% of employees surveyed in its Evolution of Pay study are willing to accept their paychecks via mobile, digital, or prepaid cards.
  • E-commerce payments provider Stripe has integrated chargeback-management services from Midigator.
  • Deluxe Corp. agreed to provide its eCheck technology to allow The Hanover Insurance Group Inc. to deliver digital checks for property and casualty disbursements. The eChecks are delivered via email.
