Worldpay Inc. is introducing in Canada and the United Kingdom its Worldpay for Platforms service, which allows software developers to embed payment processing in their platforms, the processor announced Tuesday. At the same time, Worldpay announced it is expanding availability of the service in Australia.
Demand for embedded payments is growing rapidly among small and mid-size businesses, with 90% of SMBs saying access to financial products and services from within their software platforms is key to running their business, according to Worldpay.
Expanding access to Worldpay for Platforms in more countries will help software-as-a-service providers deliver better experiences to their customers by becoming “everything platforms,” while accelerating the growth of their business, Worldpay says.

Worldpay for Platforms enables software developers to embed payments into the platform by creating a centralized hub for customer transactions, according to Worldpay. As a result, developers can create native software experiences that enable automated reconciliation through a single point of integration for credit and debit cards, direct debit, and digital wallets.
“Because we are able to embed and customize the payment experience within our software offering, Worldpay is helping us drive value for our clients with an enhanced, seamless end-to-end experience,” Tyler Duffy, president of CampLife, a campground-management software provider, says in a statement. “Not only does this improve the lives of our clients who use our software to manage their business, it brings new levels of convenience to the camping experience when people are booking their getaways.”
Earlier this year, Global Payments Inc. agreed to acquire Worldpay in a $22.7 billion transaction. The deal came as Global Payments was preparing to introduce its Genius platform, a unified point-of-sale system that acts as a centralized command center for business functions such as inventory and order management and customer engagement. Global Payments chief executive Cameron Bready said the acquisition “couldn’t be a better complement” to Global’s merchant business. The deal is expected to close early next year.
Worldpay processes more than 50 billion transactions in 174 countries and supports 135 currencies.
