SpotOn Pairs with Maple and Lands Ruby Chow’s in Atlanta

SpotOn Transact LLC is enlisting Maple Inc., an artificial-intelligence voice-platform firm for restaurants, as an integrated service in its point-of-sale suite.

San Francisco-based SpotOn says Maple’s AI platform will deliver a native POS sync for users so phone orders captured by Maple flow directly through the POS system into the kitchen-display system. Any menu changes made in SpotOn, like products that have run out, price changes, and new items, are reflected in the Maple platform in real time.

Other features include centralized reporting, configuration, and customization across multiple locations, the ability for the Maple system to answer calls at any time, and Maple’s ability to field reservations, hours, directions, and other frequent inquiries.

SpotOn says the integration with New York City-based Maple will help alleviate the missed-call gap, when a communication issue happens with an unanswered customer call. Usually, businesses have tried to reduce the gap by assigning more staff, but that typically isn’t cost effective, SpotOn says.

“Answering phones is a constant challenge for many operators – the phone rings exactly when the team has the least bandwidth to answer it,” Bryan Solar, SpotOn chief product officer, says in a statement. “Bringing Maple into the SpotOn ecosystem means the restaurants we work with can capture every order, and keep their team’s focus on the guests in front of them, and run a smarter shift.”

Maple has other recent POS system integrations, including one with Tray and Quantic POS.

SpotOn says Ruby Chow’s, an Atlanta-based restaurant, adopted its POS system, switching from Toast Inc.

Ruby Chow’s chose SpotOn for its support, reporting, and financing, SpotOn says. The restaurant has a dedicated account manager with SpotOn, Brian Seo, Ruby Chow’s general manager and partner, says in a statement. SpotOn’s ability to automate tip calculations also reduced Seo’s time he has to devote to that task, he says.

Ruby Chow’s also uses SpotOn Capital to consolidate its existing debt into one payment. The repayment amount adjusts with the restaurant’s sales performance.

“Independent restaurants are watching their software costs climb every year without getting more control over their business in return,” Zach Hyman, SpotOn cofounder and co-chief executive, says in a statement. “When an operator like Ruby Chow’s makes the switch, it’s usually because they’re tired of paying more for less visibility into how their restaurant is actually performing.”
