New Regional ISO Group

A new regional association for independent sales organizations will be unveiled later this month. Following on the heels of similar groups serving ISOs in the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest regions, the new group will be called the Western United States Acquiring Association and will cover U.S. territory west of Colorado.

A driving force behind the new association is America One Payment Systems Inc., a San Jose, Calif.-based merchant processor. Michael McMackin, senior vice president for the company, says attorneys are just now putting the finishing touches on the group’s papers, and an introductory party is scheduled Sept. 26 in San Jose, Calif., to give the group a kickoff.

McMackin has strong aspirations for the new group, saying a trade show is in the offing for next year to which he hopes to attract 1,000 attendees. The other regional ISO groups host trade shows, as well, with the next one coming up next month in Orlando, Fla., sponsored by the Southeast Acquirers Association. But McMackin says the WUSAA show should be “unique,” with new ideas such as a merchant/ISO exchange in which ISOs would be given a chance to network with retailer representatives gathered at one place at the show.
