Marqeta Revenue up 17% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 11/5/24

  • Card issuing platform Marqeta Inc. said it had a total processing volume of $74 billion in the third quarter, a 30% year-over-year increase. Marqeta also reported $128 million in revenue in the quarter, a 17.4% increase from $109 million a year prior. It posted a quarterly loss of $28.6 million, almost half its $55 million loss a year ago.
  • Payments provider Aurora Payments released Calendarise, an all-in-one point-of-sale system that supports payments acceptance, a mobile app, the Salonsoft app for managing schedules and tracking earnings of salon professionals, and the Booked app to enable customers to schedule appointments, make payments, and purchase gift cards.
  • Automated clearing house rules maker Nacha said its Payments Innovation Alliance released its “Protecting Payments in the Quantum Era: What You Need to Know” publication that outlines the basics of quantum computing and its potential applications.
  • Checkbook Payment Holdings Inc. said it joined the J.P. Morgan Payments partner network, enabling merchants to send digital checks from their J.P. Morgan bank accounts.
  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture said effective in the 2027-28 school year, students eligible for free or reduced price meals must not be charged any fees, including payment processing fees, along with the cost of the meal.
  • Cross-border payments specialist Nium announced a partnership with HyperGuest, a business-to-business marketplace for the travel and hospitality industry, that enables Nium’s virtual card payment service to be available in HyperGuest’s travel distribution platform.
