Eye on Hospitality: Radisson Picks CellPoint Digital; TipMee Launches as a Cash Tip Stand-in

Payments-orchestration platform CellPoint Digital says Radisson Hotel Group, with more than 1,580 hotels in more than 100 countries, will use its platform across its portfolio. In related news, TipMee’s app launched to enable cashless tipping.

London-based CellPoint Digital says Belgium-based Radisson will benefit from a standardized global payment process and from a customized hosted payment page that supports more than 20 languages across multiple digital channels. The payments orchestration platform enables transaction routing across multiple acquirers to reduce the number of failed transactions, CellPoint Digital says. Radisson also receives unified reporting and reconciliation tools. In 2022, the international hotels owned by Radisson split from the U.S. properties, which were acquired by Choice Hotels Americas.

Future capabilities that could be added include digital wallets and local alternative payment method acceptance, additional mobile-payment features, and payment integration for online check-in and check-out. Radisson says standardizing its global payment infrastructure is critical to its need to improve efficiency and provide a consistent guest experience.

In related news, Hong Kong-based TipMee announced its new app, available in Europe, the United States, and Asia, which businesses can use to enable cashless tipping. To use it, a consumer scans a QR code or NFC tag on the employee’s device. The customer can select a tip amount, leave a rating, and pay with a debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Staff receive the tips, TipMee says.

Businesses subscribe to TipMee with pricing starting at $7 per QR code per month, with $5 and $3 pricing plans for larger entities with more tip volume. Operators can view real-time data on tips and recognition and develop detailed reports.

“The platform gives managers an analytics dashboard to track service quality, identify top performers, and spot improvement opportunities. By connecting recognition with data, TipMee helps increase motivation, reduce turnover, and elevate customer experience across locations and shifts,” a TipMee release says.

Enabling cashless tipping is important, TipMee says, because cash use is declining and customer expectations are rising.
