Central Technology Services, the Jefferson, City, Mo.-based transaction-processing arm of Central Bancompany, says it will move its ATM-driving capability from its mainframe to a server-based system from Mosaic Software, Deerfield Beach, Fla. The software, which runs Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system, will handle ATM driving, transaction switching including intercept processing, and debit card management for the processor, which serves clients throughout the Midwest, according to a statement released today by Mosaic. The new system, called Postilion, will also provide an interface to First Data Corp.'s Star System, a national electronic funds transfer network. “The Postilion system will allow us to move the ATM driving from our mainframe to a Windows environment and also satisfy the triple-DES regulatory requirement,” Bob Boeckman, a senior vice president at CTS, said in the statement. Triple DES refers to a requirement being imposed by Visa, MasterCard, and EFT networks that calls for more rigorous encryption of personal identification numbers as customers enter them at ATMs and point of sale terminals.
