- According to Synchrony Financial’s 2018 Digital Study, 67% of consumers downloaded a retailer’s app and more than half of them did so specifically for a coupon or discount offer. Nearly half of those who downloaded a retailer’s app used it for purchases.

- Fiserv Inc. announced that merchant processor US Alliance Group will use Fiserv’s debit gateway for ATM, PIN debit, PIN-less debit, and least-cost routing options.
- Visa Inc., which has a history of investing in payments startups, announced an investment of an undisclosed amount in Paidy, a Japanese instant-issue credit service. Previous Visa investments have included Marqueta, Payworks, Klarna, LoopPay, Square, and Stripe.
- Prepaid card program manager and technology provider InComm said it has become the first distributor of Google Play gift cards in Thailand. The cards will be sold in more than 4,000 7-Eleven stores as well as in all Tesco Lotus, Tesco Lotus Express, and Family Mart stores in Thailand.
- Tipalti Inc., which provides software for mass payments, accounts payable, and other business functions, hired former First Data Corp. executive Sarah Dickens Spoja as chief financial officer. Tipalti says it has surpassed $5 billion in annual transactions and serves 3 million suppliers.
