Akeneo, a provider of product information and product-experience applications, is partnering with Stripe Inc. to help businesses enable agentic commerce. Under the terms of the deal, Akeneo, which enables automated product data enrichment through native generative AI capabilities, will enable businesses to activate product data for agentic commerce channels by connecting their product catalogs to Stripe’s agentic-commerce suite.
Stripe will provide checkout, payments, fraud protection, and merchant-of-record services. In addition, businesses will be able to continuously share updated product information.
One of the challenges facing businesses when it comes to agentic commerce is that their product information is fragmented across multiple systems and is inconsistently maintained, which makes it difficult to use the data for AI-driven commerce experiences, Akeneo says. As a result, businesses struggle to keep their product information structured, accurate, and up to date.
“AI agents can only deliver reliable shopping experiences when they have access to centralized, enriched, activated, and well-governed product information,” Akeneo chief executive said Romain Fouache says in a statement. “Akeneo helps businesses prepare their product catalogs for AI-driven discovery, while Stripe’s Agentic Commerce Suite enables agent-ready checkout and payments.”
In related news, Funnel Leasing Inc., a customer-relationship management and AI automation platform for property managers, processed its first rent payment using ChatGPT, the generative AI chatbot developed by OpenAI. BH Management Services LLC, a multifamily owner and manager with more than 93,000 rental units in the United States, initiated the transactions, which were processed using Funnel’s existing workflows and security. The transaction is expected to be the first step toward rolling out other AI-based resident services that will “reshape renter interactions in the future,” Funnel says.
Funnel’s resident portal product allows renters to connect their account inside ChatGPT and perform such actions as paying rent without leaving the conversation.
“AI assistants have become the default operating system many consumers rely on every day, and renters increasingly want to stay in those environments to manage their homes,” Funnel chief executive Tyler Christiansen, says in a statement.
