Affirm OK’d for In-Store Apple Pay Use and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 9/16/25

  • Buy now, pay later specialist Affirm Inc. announced it is offering its services through Apple Inc.’s Apple Pay mobile-payments app for in-store transactions. Apple enabled Affirm for online transactions in 2024.
  • In related news, the payments platform Klarna AB said it too is now available on Apple Pay for in-store purchases, in this case in the U.S. and U.K. markets. The move follows a previous agreement by which Klarna offers its services via Apple Pay online.
  • Affirm also said it will offer its services to almost 100,000 U.S businesses involved in beauty and fitness through a collaboration with Vagaro, a provider of software to those industries.
  • Cubic Transportation Systems said it has launched open payments on the Umo Mobility platform, a fare-collection capability offered by several transit agencies in North America. Capability includes tapping a card or smart device to pay a fare.
  • Square, the POS unit of Block Inc., announced its commerce platform has been selected by Groucho’s Deli, a South Carolina-based restaurant company with 31 locations.
  • Point-of-sale terminal provider Ingenico announced the global launch of Ingenico Manage 360, a device-management service, which the company says is device-agnostic.
  • Business-to-business payments platform TreviPay said it is working with Walmart Business to manage the next phase of the merchant’s Pay By Invoice service, which lets businesses tap a line of credit for purchases.
  • JPMorganChase said it has renewed a data-access agreement with open-banking firm Plaid Inc. aimed at enabling Chase customers to continue using certain services from the bank.
  • The payments platform CheckAlt LLC named four new board members, who will join J. Patrick Law, the company’s president and chief operating officer.
  • Mogo, a wealth and payments company, appointed Joanna Floyd to its board of directors. Floyd is a partner and chief operating officer at The Work Psychologists. She succeeds Kees van Winters, who is leaving the board.
