PayNearMe Expands Payless Deal and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/27/18

  • Customers of safeTstep, the business-to-business division of Payless ShoeSource, can now use PayNearMe to pay for online orders with cash at more than 27,000 U.S. locations, Payless said. This follows an earlier announcement that consumers can use PayNearMe for their Payless.com purchases.
  • The Zelle person-to-person payments network moved more than $25 billion in the first quarter on 85 million transactions, increases over the fourth quarter of 2017 of 15% and 14%, respectively, the network said.
  • Ingenico Group said it and USA Technologies Inc. will sell an unattended retail payment service that uses Ingenico devices and USAT’s ePort Connect platform. The cooperative sales agreement is for three years.
  • Mercator Advisory Group released its “General Data Protection Regulation: The European Union’s Cross-Industry Approach to Data Protection” report, which examines the implications of the new law for U.S. businesses.
  • Shift4 Payments said it has processed more than 8 billion tokenized transactions via its technology since the 2005 launch of its tokenization service.
  • Euronet Worldwide Inc. acquired Innova Tax Free Group, a Madrid-based processor of value-added tax refunds for international travelers. Euronet said the acquisition will complement its merchant-acquiring services in Europe.
