BluePay Makes Portfolio Acquisition and other Digital Transactions News briefs

• Independent sales organization BluePay Processing LLC announced its purchase of the merchant-services portfolio of VersaPay Corp., a business-to-business payments provider. Terms were not disclosed.

• Merchant processor Total Merchant Services introduced Groovv mPOS, a mobile point-of-sale device enabling EMV and NFC contactless payments, as well as online transactions. The device links to smart phones via a Bluetooth connection. The new product is part of the company’s free Groovv POS hardware line.

• Merchant acquirer Square Inc. renamed its Square Register point-of-sale service as Square for Retail, a package that includes a new POS app, a directory that tracks sales by customers and builds customer profiles, and inventory- and employee-management tools.

• Bill-payment processor Noventis Inc. reported it grew its biller network in 2016 to more than 100,000 electronic billers and vendors, and expects to double that number in 2017.

• Euronet Worldwide Inc., a provider of payment processing, ATM, and wire-transfer services, reported 881 million transactions on its system in the fourth quarter, up 17% from 754 million a year earlier. Euronet operated 33,973 ATMs as of Dec. 31, up 59% from 21,360 at the end of 2015.

• NCR Corp. launched its NCR Silver line of mobile point-of-sale products in the United Kingdom. The line has been available to U.S. merchants since 2012.

• Health-care payments processor InstaMed introduced the InstaMed Secure Token to allow health-care providers to mask patients’ payment information. The company says the technology reduces providers’ Payment Card Industry data-security standard scope by up to 90%.
