- Liberal members of the U.S. Supreme Court sharply questioned American Express Co.’s lawyer during oral arguments Monday for a major case involving a challenge to AmEx’s anti-steering rules for its merchants, Reuters reported. A group of 11 states led by Ohio alleges the rules violate antitrust laws and is challenging a federal appellate court’s ruling that upheld them.
- Point-of-sale equipment maker Ingenico Group introduced Axium, an Android-based POS platform for small merchants that uses Ingenico’s Telium Tetra platform.
- First Data Corp. launched the Clover Mini and Clover Flex point-of-sale devices in Germany and Austria. In addition to payments processing, Clover also enables merchants to use apps to run their businesses.
- POS systems provider iVend Retail released its “2018 Path to Purchase Survey” that found 32.9% of consumers would like to see automatic payment via digital shopping carts, but 36.1% don’t want to use new technologies when they shop.
- Visa Inc. said 14 technology companies in 10 nations joined the Visa Ready for Transit program, which aims to improve and promote contactless payments in transit.
- Fraud-mitigation specialist Signifyd and Corra, a digital agency for retailers, announced a partnership that provides Corra clients access to Signifyd’s services.
