Phoenix Group Sold to Ingram Micro and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 11/8/17

  • NCR Corp. launched the NCR Silver Quantum point-of-sale system that features an integrated payment device with mobile wallet acceptance, a customer loyalty program, and a scanner that are loaded onto a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet. NCR Silver Quantum, in addition to the NCR Silver POS software, is the first full Android-based product in the NCR Silver lineup.
  • Technology provider Ingram Micro Inc. announced it purchased The Phoenix Group, a point-of-sale equipment provider, for an undisclosed amount.
  • Unattended-payments specialist USA Technologies Inc. reported revenues of $25.7 million for its fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 30, a 19% increase from $21.6 million in the year-ago quarter. It improved its loss to $213,000 from a $2.5 million loss. USAT attributed the improvement, in part, to gaining ground with existing customers and the highest quarterly new-customer addition in two years.
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. released an updated version of its app that now supports Apple Pay and Android Pay.
  • HSA Bank, a unit of Webster Bank N.A., said health account debit-card account users can now be loaded into Samsung Pay.
  • Wal-Mart Stores Inc. believes the Walmart Pay service in its mobile app is close to surpassing Apple Inc.’s Apple Pay in number of U.S. users, Bloomberg reported.
  • Visa Inc. introduced three wearable payments devices—gloves, commemorative stickers, and Olympic pins, all with near-field communications technology—for use at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea in February.
  • NACHA, the automated clearing house governing body, released two studies about the use of ACH payments for donations.
  • Independent sales organization Pivotal Payments Inc. debuted a new Web site for its ISO and sales-agent partners.
  • Point-of-sale equipment provider General Credit Forms Inc. said Pete Philomey, who previously worked at MagTek Inc., joined its South Seas Data LLC unit as national sales manager.
