North American Bancard EMV Tip Adjust and other Digital Transactions News briefs

Prepaid card provider Green Dot Corp. appointed William I. Jacobs, who joined its board of directors in April, as board chairman. The chairman spot had been held by CEO Steve Streit, but the company, which recently had a proxy fight, is separating the roles. Jacobs currently is chairman of merchant processor Global Payments Inc. and earlier worked for MasterCard Inc.

Payment processor North American Bancard said a tip-adjust feature is available for select Ingenico Group and VeriFone Systems Inc. point-of-sale terminals.

Point-of-sale terminal maker ExaDigm Inc. said First Data Corp. certified its EMV application for retailers and restaurants on the processor’s Nashville and Omaha platforms.

Smart card maker Oberthur Technologies released a new dual-interface chip card that meets Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. U.S. specifications.

Factor4 LLC, a gift and loyalty services provider, said its platform is now integrated into Datacap Systems Inc.’s EMV products.

Payment processor Payment Alliance International struck a referral deal with the North American Retail Hardware Association for independent home improvement retailers.

Swedish online-payments firm Klarna, which launched last year in the United States, took on debt financing for the first time, issuing $35.2 million in subordinated notes to help fund expansion, according to Reuters.
