No Delay for Fuel EMV Shift Yet and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/8/20

  • Visa Inc. reportedly denied a request to delay the Oct. 1 EMV liability shift for petroleum businesses, according to a ConvenienceStoreNews.com article, which says several fuel-retailing groups petitioned Visa for the delay. Visa, the Web site said, attributing it to NACS, an association for convenience store operators, is said to be monitoring the situation and “believes that it is too soon to determine if a delay of the liability shift is needed.”
  • E-commerce services provider ConvertCart debuted its Covid-19 eCommerce Analysis tool that provides updates on e-commerce shopping trends for many merchant categories.
  • Financial professionals say nonbank payment providers pose additional compliance challenges and risk, including more alert volumes and higher technology and labor costs, according to survey results in the latest “True Cost of Financial Crime Compliance Global Report” released by LexisNexis Risk Solutions, which canvassed 898 executives who oversee financial-crime compliance. The report estimates financial firms spend $180.9 billion annually on compliance.
  • Digital Motors Corp. launched a service it says allows car sellers to turn their dealerships into an online store, allowing consumers to select a car, apply a trade-in, and view offers of credit.
  • Citigroup Inc. announced assistance programs on top of those it introduced in March to help customers affected by Covid-19. The new measures include waivers of late fees and a two-month deferral of minimum payments on credit cards.
  • ACI Worldwide Inc. said it added an automated “Delay My Payment” feature to its Speedpay wallet, allowing bill-pay users to apply for extensions without burdening companies’ call centers.
  • LivePerson Inc., a provider of artificial-intelligence technology to retailers, launched HelpOthers.io, a gift card marketplace intended to let consumers prepay for goods and services from businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. LivePerson is collaborating on the project with the Dream Big Foundations.
  • Point-of-sale payments technology provider ShopKeep Inc. said it is working with small-business loan marketplace Lendio to smooth access to relief funds available to businesses through the CARES Act and Paycheck Protection Program. The service is available to any business with 500 or fewer employees.
  • Bluefin Payment Systems LLC said Plug’n Pay Technologies will offer Bluefin’s point-to-point encryption service to its merchants.
  • Sound Payments and Pax Technology said they received recognition as part of the Visa U.S. Qualified Tap to Pay Point of Sale program for their POS product for fuel pumps.
