Outback Franchisee Adding More Ziosk Tabletop POS Locations

Ziosk, a tabletop point-of-sale system owned by Tabletop Media LLC, said Wednesday that more than 100 Outback Steakhouse restaurant locations in the Southwest will use its devices.

Cerca Trova Restaurant Concepts, the franchisee for Outback restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico, is expanding the number of locations where it uses Ziosk devices by 45 sites from 62, pushing its total to 107. Rollout of the additional locations was completed earlier this month.

Ziosk devices enable diners to pay for their meals without leaving their tables. Some machines also offer entertainment options and the ability to order menu items.

Ziosk says Cerca Trova’s devices use point-to-point encryption and accept EMV chip card transactions. Diners also can use a mobile wallet to pay and scan Quick response coupon codes using the machines.

At the 62 Outback locations already using Ziosk devices, the checkout process has been reduced, on average, by seven minutes. Enrollments in the Outback loyalty program increased 10 times at these locations, Ziosk says.

Ziosk devices also help provide insight into how diners perceive the service they receive, says Austen Mulinder, Ziosk president and chief executive. “The biggest thing [restaurant operators] learn is what customers are thinking and what customers think of specific servers,” Mulinder tells Digital Transactions News. “They will find the best servers love it. And the worst don’t love it.”

Dallas-based Ziosk says more than 170,000 of its tables are installed in more than 3,000 U.S. restaurant locations. More than 50 million consumers interact with its devices each month.
