Global Payments Offers Canadian E-Commerce Platform and other Digital Transactions News briefs

• Payments-technology provider VeriFone Systems Inc. said it created a 50-50 joint venture with Gas Station TV that will combine VeriFone’s Pump Media division with Gas Station TV; the venture will operate under the Gas Station TV brand and deliver 3.3 billion annual impressions through 18,000 locations in all 50 states by year’s end. VeriFone said at its recent quarterly earnings call that providing media services at fuel pumps was not a core business and that it was planning a venture with Gas Station TV.

• Merchant processor Global Payments Inc. introduced an e-commerce platform for businesses in Canada. The platform, based on Global’s Realex technology, enables payments via phone, mail, email, and mobile devices as well as online.

• Affirm Inc., a startup that enables consumers to pay over time for online purchases, announced it has processed its 1 millionth installment loan. There are now more than 900 retailers offering Affirm, compared to 100 at the end of 2015, the company said. The bank behind Affirm is Cross River Bank.

• Netherlands-based processor Adyen, which has major operations in the United States, announced $727 million in 2016 revenue, up from $365 million in 2015. Revenue per employee stands at more than $14 million, the company said.

• Zift, a payment-services provider, announced it has acquired PayVisors, a consulting firm specializing in payments technology. Chad Roll, president of PayVisors, will take over as chief executive of Zift, whose cofounders, Nate Hughes and Marc Roberts, will serve as chief revenue officer and chief operating officer, respectively. Terms were not announced.

• Prepaid card program manager CashStar said that e-retailer Shop.com is using CashStar Exchange Commerce Services to enable consumers to purchase gift cards from more than 250 merchant brands.

• Mobile imaging software provider Mitek Systems Inc. said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded it Patent No. 14,722,058 covering the ability use a mobile device’s radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader and a camera for document verification.

• Payments-technology provider ACI Worldwide Inc. said ADSI, a bank IT-services and fraud-protection provider serving Latin America and the Caribbean, will offer ACI’s Proactive Risk Manager platform to its clients.

• Encryption provider Bluefin Payment Systems said its services are now available to clients of Clearwave, which develops health-care management software.

• Digital-banking services provider Tyfone Inc. said it is partnering with the ProfitStars division of Jack Henry & Associates Inc. on mobile banking, Internet banking, and bill-pay products for banks and credit unions.
