Apriva Receives EMV Certifications and other Digital Transactions News briefs

• Mastercard Inc. said it has completed testing of a biometric-enabled payment card in South Africa. The card contains fingerprint scanning technology. Cardholders enroll their fingerprints at their financial institutions, which are then stored as a digital template on the card. The card can be used in an EMV point-of-sale terminal. Mastercard said additional tests in Europe and Asia Pacific are planned.

Wireless payments specialist Apriva announced it has completed the EMV certification process for VeriFone Systems Inc. POS terminals using its gateway and the Quick Chip certification process on Total System Services Inc.’s (TSYS) platform. Quick Chip is an expedited EMV processing protocol.

USA Technologies Inc. announced an alliance with Gimme Vending that will combine USAT’s contactless-payment technology with Gimme Vending’s sales, inventory, and service software.

Payment gateway Shift4 Corp. said its point-to-point encryption service True P2PE is now PCI validated.

Online fraud-prevention specialist Verifi Inc. launched Order Insight, a product that enables multiple parties to share order details to determine the legitimacy of a sale.

Payments provider North American Bancard said it is now offering semi-integrated point-of-sale products.

Payments provider CCBill LLC announced it joined the Drupal Association, a trade organization for users of the content-management software Drupal, as a technology supporter.

Chargeback-management provider Chargebacks911 named Kristjan Gjura as vice president of business development. Gjura previously worked at Ethoca, a fraud-mitigation company.
