- MoneyGram International Inc. announced online transactions grew more than 70% year-over-year between Dec. 1 and Dec. 25, a record growth rate for that period. The money-transfer provider, which did not report the actual transaction volume, said 80% of the transactions were initiated on a mobile device.
- PayPal Holdings Inc. has closed on its $4-billion acquisition of Honey Science Corp., a provider of e-commerce shopping tools. The deal was announced in November.
- Point-of-sale installment-lending service Splitit USA Inc. said it has joined the Magento Technology Partner program, allowing it to offer lending services on the Magento e-commerce platform.
- Bestpass Inc., provider of an electronic toll-collection platform for commercial fleets, said its payment volume surpassed $1 billion for the first time in 2019. The company has deployed more than 600,000 transponders.
- Prime Trust LLC said its Prime Settlement Network, a multi-asset settlement platform, will use blockchain-based digital-payments technology from Signature Bank to offer real-time payment and settlement services to institutional clients of both companies.
- American Express Co. opened two lounges at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the Centurion Lounge and the Escape Lounge. The lounges are open to AmEx’s Platinum card and Centurion members.
- PaymentsFirst, a nonprofit payments association formed in 2015 with the merger of four automated clearing house associations in the Southeast, appointed Donna Ashworth president, moving up from the group’s executive vice president of risk and compliance officer. The association also appointed Chad Frank to Ashworth’s previous position. He has been PaymentsFirst’s senior vice president of risk and compliance.
