FreedomPay Adds Google Pay Support and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/17/20

  • Payments provider FreedomPay has added support for Google Pay, enabling Google Pay users to make e-commerce payments in Android apps and in Web browsers. This can be done on a merchant’s Web site regardless of browser or operating system or within an Android app, with FreedomPay securely integrating to the Google Payments API on the merchant’s behalf. Google Pay users will also have the option to make in-store purchases by enabling contactless payments at the point of sale.
  • ScanSource Inc., a provider of point-of-sale payments technology, announced it is launching through its reseller network cloud-based software products from Microsoft Corp.
  • OneTrust LLC said e-commerce payments provider 2Checkout.com Inc. has adopted its privacy-training platform.
  • Grocery giant The Kroger Co. said it is now accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for pickup orders at its nearly 2,800 stores. Customers can place their orders through Kroger.com.
  • Principly Inc.’s CollegeBacker service, which helps parents set up 529 plans to save for their children’s college education, announced a portion of parents’ online spending with designated merchants can now be directed into their college accounts. Participating merchants include Ace Hardware, Cafe Press, Office Depot, Prana, MLB Shop, and Walmart.
